Should you be asked to carry out a axial clearance measurement as per IHI procedure, please reply as follows: ====================================== IHI and other makers recommends to measure the axial clearance on deck cranes via the "AXIAL REDUCTION MEASUREMENT", but this is possible only on cranes that have fixed installed reference measuring points and that a reference measurement was done & recorded when the crane was new. However, this is not available on most cranes, the reference measuring points are corroded and the base records were not done, not done correctly, or no longer available. Alatas therefore evaluates the slewing bearing condition using the "ROTATION METHOD", combined with grease analysis and an audio/visual inspection.
